Monique is the child of a heroin addict. Trudy is the co-founder of Save Our Youth, a mentoring program for runaway youth in Denver.
Monique was moved around from relative to relative as small child. She had given up on school by the age of 12 and was soon living on the streets.
Runaway youth are vulnerable to drugs, addiction and trafficking. They are at grave risk for commercial sexual exploitation, yet they often do not see themselves as victims. The purchase of sex from a minor is trafficking. It is illegal in all 50 states.
